Census 2010 Zip Code State County Data -- 5-Digit Zip Code Tabulation Area-State-County Data from Summary File 1
The U.S. Census Bureau provides 2010 SF1 files with complete Summary File 1 files for the nation, each state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
These files are Census SF1 2010 880 5-Digit ZIP Code Tabulation Area-State-County summary level files.
Census also offers American FactFinder (AFF) for looking up variables from 2010 Census SF1 and other Census data.
For example, to use AFF to find sex by age in the 2010 SF1, click on Decennial Census -> get data -> Topics -> Dataset -> 2010 SF1 100% Data , type 'sex by age' in the 'topic or table name' search box and click 'GO'.
The files below include all the 2010 SF1 data by Summary Level 880 880 5-Digit ZIP Code Tabulation Area-State-County (ZCTA)-State-County. The files are split into 47 parts due to the large number of variables.
The geographical hierarchy of counties is Nation -> State -> County. The geographcal hierarchy of ZIP Codes is Nation -> ZIP Code because a small percentage of ZIP Codes may cross state lines. The state and county variables in these files can be combined to make a fipscounty variable which can be merged to check which counties are adjacent.
The SF1 Table Matrix names and describes the variables in each file.
The complete 2010 SF1 Technical Documentation is available.
A Census SF1 ZIP Code Tabulation Area (ZCTA) Data -- 2010 and ZIP Code Tabulation Area (ZCTA) Distance Database is available as well.
